Closing the Curriculum Information Gap

Hi Friend,

The connection between high-quality curriculum and improved student outcomes is well-established, especially for historically underserved students, including Black and Latino students, multilingual learners, and those experiencing poverty. However, there is a significant gap in knowledge about which curricula these students have access to.

The Center for Education Market Dynamics (CEMD) is on a mission to change this.

In our recent report, Closing the Gap: The Case for Transparency in Curriculum Selection, we delve into the issues surrounding district-led curriculum selection nationwide and propose potential solutions. This includes a special focus on how State Education Agencies can drive improvements at scale.

We encourage state and district leaders to help bridge this information gap by ensuring transparency around district-led curriculum selection. In so doing, you could help significantly improve the information landscape and build the field's collective understanding of what curricula have been selected by districts across the country.

Calling all K-12 District Leaders:

We invite you to participate in the 2024 K-12 District Tutoring Survey.

This survey will help you assess your district’s current tutoring program(s) and help provide information about what’s in use in K-12 districts and schools to researchers and policymakers, funders, advocacy groups, curriculum and instructional materials providers, and other school districts.

Complete Survey

The survey takes 15-20 minutes to complete and will close on July 31, 2024.

All participants will be entered into a raffle to receive 1 of 30 $100 Amazon gift cards.
